My Word Was Persevere

2017 has drawn to a close and everyone's talking about (or avoiding) New Year's resolutions.  Don't be scared of goals at the beginning of each year.  This is such a natural reflection time and it's especially good for us mamas as the logistics manager of our households.  We can take stock of what we're doing and where we're going, because we're like the legs on the ground.

When I looked at 2017, I didn't really feel like God wanted anything new, snazzy or crazy amazing for us for this past year.  He didn't seem to be emphasizing those things.  What I really felt was important for 2017 was to persevere.  Morning devotions with the Blossoms, getting outside often and working toward a healthier lifestyle were just a few of the things we were doing, but wanted to persevere in doing more consistently.

Persevere.  That was my word.  I let go of flashy expectations.

In contentment, I reached out toward the things I felt God wanted to be established in us and for us.

Looking back, we did persevere.  You've heard it said that in parenting, the days are long but the years are short.  If we persevere, we make each day count in His service.  We then find that the years become beautiful investments in the tasks the Lord has given us.

Let this be an encouragement to all of us.  Whatever you think God wants you to do this year, what you hear He's emphasizing for your family may be nothing snazzy, new or amazing.  Endure.  Persevere.  Keep hiking.  Continue plodding.  With perseverance, you can honor Him with days that slip into years.
